H.E.R. Super Bowl Solo - Rock Guitarist Reacts!
In which I unpack this epochal event - an actual guitar solo in a worldwide media extravaganza - there's a lot to unpack. And unpack it I do. I get down to the nitty gritty - what is happening here??? Original video not included because the NFL is blocking harder than a Chiefs defensive back. But you can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/7hYbrdC_-s8/v-deo.htmlsi=5-UGNh4bCygY16B-&t=499

Moonage - Ronno

Getting warmed up for a Bowie night at the Basement East in Nashville last August. Guested on this number and a few others. I am a fan of every Bowie era and guitarist, but Mick Ronson will forever be my favourite. Tone courtesy of my heart, hands, experience and Neural DSP's legendary Quad Cortex.

i figured out all kinds of american music history. The Mystery of the resonator guitars, which no one in america could even afford to own; except those "poor" black delta blues players who also had enough free time to play all day long.the missippi delta area was an african heroin hub; and still today there are unreported incomes, with black panhandlers doubling as heroin dealers for those they have reduced to the streets....read more- ------------ And Jazz was actually an innovation brought about by genuinely poor Europeans, people who contributed to society and earned their time to play music, but would purchase necessities before a second guitar, and where guitars where more expensive in america being in shorter supply. how to make one guitar sound like two ? add scale tones to the chords !!! and those are European scale tones. ------ of course the Pentatonic Scale is the oldest Asian scale, but also found widespread use as a "one can do no wrong" scale to tech children, so they could play along with more complex music. of course there are many more complex Asian scales, but pentatonic is still asia's most popular scale. ----- and the Blues Innovation, was of course adding the One note which was documented everywhere as being the most horrifically discontent note in any key, to the most pleasing notes belonging to the penatonic.

I have both the Tom Anderson Classic S, 2018; and an Icon Classic S, 2024. I like them both a lot. I think the Icon Classic comes closer to a Stratocaster sound than the Classic, in my case. Might just come down to the individual guitar. Both are way better players than any F Stratocaster I ever owned or played. But, they do not sound exactly like a F Stratocaster. The Icon comes close enough, though. That said, unless I was doing a tribute show where a Stratocaster was required, when I would use a Stratocaster, which has a shaky, brittle top end that is pleasing/not harsh, but there, I would just use the TAG Icon Classic, which seems to lack that top / brittle but pleasing shaky fizz to it that F Stratocasters have... I think it might be the bridge (?). Anyway, the sound of the TAGs is more broad-spectrum "hi-fi" sounding... more rounded and broad. Less direct and narrow than a Stratocaster, IMO. But, that's why I like the TAG sound. But, I will always have at least one F Stratocaster, too, for it's unique and "Iconic" sound.

They both blow away Fender. Only thing they make that comes close to the feature set is the Fender Ultra, which still doesn’t have the same attention paid to the final handwork in fit and finish. Andersons play like a forty year old guitar out of the box, and also feel like the future. Unreal.

The pentatonic scale has a curious effect because depending on who you ask it's "underrated" or "overrated" but what's undeniable is that if you know how to make the most out of it you can manage to do great things with it. Imho anyone who despises the pentatonic for being "too basic" doesn't know anything and just wants to sound smart. Good video mate, and the solo from H.E.R was pretty neat.
